Application of acupuncture and herbal medicine in the cases of autism or autism spectrum disorder

Autism is a severe neurodevelopmental disorder that begins at birth or within the first two and a half years. 12 is a spectrum disorder (ASD / ASD), which means that it affects people differently. Some children may have speech, while others may have little or no speech is. 13 Most autistic children are perfectly normal in appearance, but spend their time disturbing and puzzling behaviors which are markedly different from those of children typical. Less severe cases can be diagnosed with pervasive developmental disorder (PDD) or Asperger Syndrome (these children usually have normal language, but they have many "autistic" and social behavior problems). 12

Its cause is still a mystery neurological studies suggest brain dysfunction. 01 The basis of this disorder may be neurochemical, neurotransmitter, neurobiological (genetic core), neuropsychological or neurophysiological (dysfunction of complex information processing). 02

In Children Autistic / ASD patients the transmission of impulses / signals (ie information processing) between nerve cells in the brain can not process the properly or neurons (nerve cells) can not establish its precise coordination among themselves accordingly to connect the neural circuit through its rich neural network. Therefore, for this reason autism / ASD children suffering from various problems develop.

Autism / ASD is characterized by a deficit in language, social communication, symbolic or imaginative play, cognition 03 and less or no eye contact.Children with autism / ASD usually have secondary problems in behavior, including aggression, irritability, stereotypies, hyperactivity, negativism, volatile emotions, temper tantrums, lack of concentration and obsessive-compulsive behavior. 02

But the good news is that now there are a variety of treatment options which can be very useful. Some treatments may lead to a big improvement. Now, autism is treatable. 04 In these conditions, along with acupuncture herbal therapy is very effective. Great results are being achieved by the simultaneous application of acupuncture and herbal medicine in cases of TEA / autism and cerebral palsy in different countries.

There are research papers, articles, etc. has been published worldwide about the effectiveness of acupuncture and herbal remedies. Here are some of the mentionable events and statements, the documents cited in favor of the effectiveness of these treatment methods.

About Acupuncture Therapy:

01. "The use of acupuncture for neurological and developmental disorders has increased greatly recently. The World Health Organization (WHO) reviewed and standardized acupuncture the scalp (to treat neurological and developmental problems) in 1984. In 1988, WHO published the first booklet on standard scalp acupuncture. 05 "

02. "Best cognitive (language, memory, and stimulation of calculation) of performance by the latter group was due to the added effect of the acupuncture sessions, which increased the speed of blood flow to the brain. 03 "

"The majority had functional improvement of various degrees, depending on age and severity of their disabilities. Some improvement was noted in a few sessions of acupuncture. 03 "

03. "Acupoints on the scalp and body have been found effective for treating children with brain dysfunction, resulting in an improvement in overall functional capacity of the patient. 02 "

"In a revolutionary new treatment, our research team has shown for the first time in a clinical trial how acupuncture can successfully improve the dysfunction related to autism, by activating vital connections the brain. We hypothesize that repetitive stimulation of specific acupoints can reconnect the neural circuit through its rich neural network in the cerebellum. Improvement may result through resignaling neural circuits via neurotransmitters such as serotonin / 5-HT, dopamine and neurochemicals such as cortisol. This reconnection of frontal-cerebellar circuits can temporarily reverse the basic dysfunctional pathways in autism, including attention, emotion, or hyperactivity, and open a positive way or cognitive learning communication skills. 02 "

04. "Many studies around the world aimed at people and animals have shown that scalp acupuncture is very effective in the treatment of neurological and developmental in children. Research shows that the level of certain hormones in the body and brain blood flow improves with this treatment. 06 "

05. 'In this study, researchers used body acupuncture for a period longer than the current study. Concluding that there a significant improvement in speech in 12 of those studied (13) PP subjects. 07 "

On the herbal therapy:

01) "Herb Bacopa has been used in several cases of autism, with positive effects 08"

02) "Two chemicals in Bacopa Herb, bacosides A and B, improve the transmission of impulses between cells nerve in the brain. Bacosides These synapses regenerate and repair damaged neurons, making it easier to learn and remember new things. Bacopa also increases the level of serotonin, a brain chemical known to promote relaxation. The grass can boost brain function while anxiety may explain why reduction helps treat ADHD, ASD. "There was a significant improvement in verbal learning, memory consolidation, Early information processing 09 "

03) "Herbs Ginkgo bilobaimproves blood supply to the brain and also increases the speed at which the information transmitted to nerve cells. 10 "

04) "The reconstruction of neural networks in the damaged brain is necessary for therapeutic development of degenerative diseases neurological. Herb ginseng showed potent regeneration activity for axons and synapses, and the improvement of memory impairment. Also showed the extent neurites in normal and damaged cortical neurons. Trigonelline, a constituent of coffee beans demonstrated the regeneration of axons and dendrites as well improvement of memory. 11 "
